Susumu Hirasawa is a fucking genius. I discovered him via his work on Paranoia Agent, and everything I have listened to has been incredible. This track is deeply moving me this morning. Moving me deeply. Damn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuA3pCHRqWk
Meanwhile my girl is in bed watching the last episode of the aforementioned...
All I am going to say on the matter is that is it the best television series I have watched since The Sopranos, the best Anime I've seen since Gumn, and it infects the mind yet deeper than both. It describes our condition beautifully. I put it up there with The Prisoner.
A huge part of its effectiveness can be credited to the incredible, painfully emotive work of Susumu Hirasawa, who can wake you the fuck up, send you to sleep, and give you terrifing, stomach churning nightmares with stuff he makes on a flipping Amiga.
I am truly inspired by this dude and his complete mastery of sonics. This is what I look up to on this bright new day, the third of Spring. I look into my belly, and aspire to Susumu Hirasawa's levels of skill and musical alchemy. As I described in the Donnish Inquisition, I am about to completely reboot my way of working. It is scary, and I am looking forward to it.
Raa-eee-yaa Ra-Ra-ee-yo-ra! Marvelous mushroom shaped cloud in the sky Raa-eee-yaa Ra-Ra-ee-yo-ra! The afternoon of the birds feeding in an ally
I shall talk to you with my hand on the grass in the sunbeams See, our dream is blossoming on the lunch bench
Keep the sound of waves in your heart Keep the melancholy on the bottem Extend the bridge to tomorrow Without worrying about a tidal wave
Raa-eee-yaa Ra-Ra-ee-yo-ra Such a marvelous vapor trail Raa-eee-yaa Ra-Ra-ee-yo-ra The afternoon of the people passing on the popular street
I shall walk with you, holding your hand with a smile See, the voice of "it's all over"is drowned out by the wind
Without worrying about tomorrow let your destination slide Lock up your heart Without believing in an avalanche
Raa-eee-yaa Ra-Ra-ee-yo-ra Flaming rain that I used to see in my dreams Raa-eee-yaa Ra-Ra-ee-yo-ra The afternoon that I woke up by the office window
I shall go out with you since I was invited by the sunbeams See, our dream is blossoming on the lunch bench
Listen to the wind blowing against the grass Throw away melancholy Believe that tomorrow will be fine Without worrying about the meaning of the dream
Raa-eee-yaa Ra-Ra-ee-yo-ra Marvelous mushroom shaped cloud in the sky Raa-eee-yaa Ra-Ra-ee-yo-ra The afternoon of the birds feeding in an ally Raa-eee-yaa Ra-Ra-ee-yo-ra The dream that we raised on the lunch bench Raa-eee-yaa Ra-Ra-ee-yo-ra The afternoon that was born in the sunbeams
