actually my fearless friend , you started making beats back in early 2003 as I showed you compression (and stereo spacing!) whilst I was still living in a bedsit in SE3 .. and that was definitely 2003. There was a disc of vynil rips I gave you with a Jack Jones sample I gave you (creepy bloke vocal “cant hear the sound of my voice” or something”) and you made something slightly twisted out of it which I wish I could hear now … Same year we also saw a 3ft 2″ 9 year old (?) Lady Sov onstage at Cargo with some other grime kids and a week or so later Tes at the Rhythm Factory , also the year me and you had to re-break back into the Playlouder offices one sunny saturday … that was 2003!

That underpass was also recently used to film a few scenes for Malice in Wonderland, which is an Alice/Cockney Gangster hybrid starring Danny Dyer, Shannon from Lost and Superhans. It’s not brilliant, but it was quite weird to think that Shannon from Lost’s stood in the same place as Norwich’s resident muttery beardy magic tramp. In the Akiratunnel.
