The Akira The Don Guide To: Death’s Head

Sad but true.

Anyway.

I ADVISE YOU CLICK THAT THING TO READ IT ALL!

BIGGER IS BETTER!

ROB LIEFELD TAUGHT ME THAT!

HA!

Rah then. That was epic. This week I decided that doing a strip every day was taking too much of my time, so I figured I’d try one full page strip, instead of the three panel thing.  Well, the full page strip took a lot of time. Shock horror. Maybe I can get quicker at it. Anyway, I hope you like it, and that it wasn’t a total waste of time. It was fun to do, anyway. PLUS, I Camstasia-ed the thing, so I can make a speed drawing video out of the thing.

So, what song should I use for the video? One of mine, obs. Answers in the comments. If I use one of your suggestions I’ll send you my OG Death’s Head sketch.

Indeed, it has been an arty week. I sold Happiness, which made me feel legitimate at drawing – pretty dumb whichever way you look at it, but still. Packaging that seven year old drawing in a stiff cardboard tube was emotional, for all manner of reasons I haven’t the time to ponder. It was cleansing as well. On to the next. That period is done, and this one is happening, and it is awesome and fun and exciting. Learn, yes, build, yes, but if you catch me spending any serious amount of time looking back, belt me.

OK?

Cheers!

Anyway. I well enjoyed the Doncast this week, so I am looking forward to the next one. We’ll be doing Our Tune again, so send in your stories and your songs – akirathedon at googlemail.com. ALSO! When we reach 300 live listeners, I am going to get my band in and do a gig for you. I have an exciting vision for how to do it which I am not going to elaborate on for fear of being ripped off before it happens. OK? So get ready. It’s gonna be ace.

OK. Back to work. I am gonna speed up this footage. Tell me what song to use! My brain is mush!

PAX!

EDIT: Here’s the video. Raydome won. WHOOOO!

    Nice one man.

New Podcast up …No Akira but some pretty good obscure Psychedelia on there…a few nice breaks as well ripe for theft.

I always forget about the Doncast, which is cackpole. Does clash with PM on The 4, tend to get a little edgy without my daily dose of Eddie Mair. I shall make the effort though!

Fucking excellent comic by the way, always had a soft spot for DH myself. Marvel UK in the 80s were great, Transformers and Zoids were far better than a toy comic should've been. My mind was rather blown by the Black Zoid storyline at the time and years later it was blown again when I discovered it'd been written by our man Grant Morrison.

    S.W.O.R.D. is brilliant too!

Dunno about which song you should use, it might even be necessary for you to write a whole song about Death's Head. In character.

    Just sayin'.

This comic is awesome. I would love to read a whole comic book by Akira The Don.

As for this specific one, only one song that goes with it comes to mind.

    The Cure – Dredd Song.

This song was written for the film Judge Dredd with Sylverster Stallone. Not only the link with comic books is accurate in this case, but also the lyrics fit the DON's GUIDE TO DEATH'S HEAD very much.

    Never say it's over

    Never say the end

Anytime you stop just start again

    Never say give up

    Never say give in

You always have to fight to win

    However much it hurts

    However much it takes

Belive and all your dreams will all come true

    However hard it get's

    However much it aches

    Always belive in me

    As I belive in you

    To never say too late

    Never say it's done

Make me know for real you are the one

    The one that never turns

    Never walks away

The one that I can trust to always stay

    Always stay….

    Never say surrender

    Never say die

You only ever get there if you try

    Never say give up

    Never say give in

You always have to fight to win

    However much it hurts

    However much it takes

Belive and all your dreams will all come true

    However hard it get's

    However much it aches

    Always belive in me

As I belive in you (x4)

    Never say if only

    Never say regret

Only the weak remember to forget

    Never say it's over

    Never say the end

    Never say never again

    However much it hurts

    However much it takes

Belive and all your dreams will all come true

    However hard it get's

    However much it aches

    Belive in me

    As I belive in you

Top comic dude, shame about DH though.

I think you should use Got Money (Krucy Darkstar Remix) for the video, quality tune, it'll work well with the speeded up drawings.

Maybe use 18 from Omega sanction too.

  • Karl

OK, I didn't want to sound like a whiny bitch, but (WHINY BITCH ALERT, WHINY BITCH ALERT!) if people are gonna suggest more than one song then I could just copy and paste my whole ATD playlist, and then if any one of those is picked I would win. One song per suggestion or disqualification should be the rule I think. (WHINY BITCH ALERT, WHINY BITCH ALERT!)

    • Eloise

well if that rule was in, i would be SCREWED. :)

      • Karl

Eloise, I'm so sorry. What can I say? I had a few sambucas and turned into the whiny bitch from hell! My head is punishing me for it this morning tho!
