Superman Is Still A Dick

Why was silver-age Superman such a dick anyway? I don’t get it. Silver-age Batman was quite nice, as millionaire playboy night-avenger types go. Whereas naughties All-Star Batman is a total dick. And naughties All-Star Superman is the safest guy in the universe.
HMM!
Anyway. The Ultimates 1 and 2, for you information, were brilliant, and I recommend them heartily. Clever, funny, well put superhero/political satire that is neither preachy nor trite. I will never forget the full page splash of Captain America frantically pointing to the A on his mask screaming, “Surrender?! You think this “A” stands for FRANCE?!?!?!”
Sadly, the spanners up at Marvel have ruined the whole thing with The Ultimates 3. “Written” by Jeph Loeb and drawn by crazed misogynist Joe Madureira, this new series abandons the realism of what came before, reverting, miserably, to typical 90s superhero fare, all exaggerated breasts, unfeasibly sparse costumes, and Wolverine cameos. It is the stuff that made me stop reading comics in the first place. Avoid as if ’twere plague.
In non-comics news, The Back In The Day Remix and Click Clack Blam videos are nearing completion. I’ve been working out how to do do stuff with colour in Vegas, it is pretty exciting. Click Clack is looking so fucking sick!

Yeah, ULTIMATES is the ultimate, but you should also read Warren Ellis’ new comic “The Boys”. It’s basically about a group who keep superheroes in check, and is full of misogynistic debauched caped wankers.
And Simon Pegg’s in it.

Yes the boys is all kinds of goodness, the kind of wrong goodness which makes you feel bad for laughing! oh and did u know We3 is being made into a film…dear god i hope they don’t ruin it.
Plus not sure if i’ve mentioned it before but try an get hold of the comic wormwood! its about the antichrist and jesus and how there best mates because there united by the fact they both think there Dads are dicks…very very funny it was only a short run but should be easy to pick up

Yes, I of course, did mean “Garth Ennis”, but in my rush to explain it I said Warren Ellis… they’re making a film of The Boys as well.
And yeah, I coincidently picked up a few copies of The Chronicles Of Wormwood recently and it’s alright. Anything that shows the second coming as slightly retarded can’t be all bad (which is what Ennis did in the Preacher comics as well… which you HAVE to read if you haven’t already).
This is coming off as more than a little bit nerdariffic…

i never finished reading those ultimates…
got to around the 4th issue and had to cut comics out of my life completely (was hard) so i could have the money to go out
still managing to resist buying up all that i’ve missed out in the last 5 or so years…
you must have read some of the other marvel ultimate universe comics; spiderman, x-men.. etc?
they were great! (have no idea how they are now though)
